The Museo del Ministerio del Interior (Museum of the Ministry of the Interior, 5ta Av., esq. 14, tel. 07/203-4432, Tues.–Fri. 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.–3 p.m., entrance CUC2, guide CUC1) is dedicated to the CIA’s inept efforts to dethrone Fidel. The seal of the CIA looms over a room full of photos and gadgets straight from a spy movie. It also features exhibits honoring MININT’s good work in solving homicides—there’s even a stuffed German shepherd that was used by police in their sleuthing.
To make things easier for the CIA should it ever take another stab at Fidel, the museum shows a video giving details of Castro’s security plans, including tunnels from his residence in Jaimanitas to the nearby Ciudad Libertad military airstrip. Surreal!
