Visiting Camera Obscura, just a half-block from the Denver Art Museum and across the street from the Byers-Evans House, is like going to the home of a friend who happens to be a mad photograph collector.
The contemporary and vintage photographs taken by everyone from Edward S. Curtis, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, and Eliot Porter to James Balog and gallery owner Hal Gould are hung on every inch of available wall space, and stacked up elsewhere. There is also a bookstore and wide selection of cards for sale.
