In a college town with a reputation for wild parties, there is no shortage of places to go for a drink after dark. The West End Tavern (926 Pearl St., 303/444-3535, www.thewestendtavern.com) has a very appealing rooftop deck with a view of the mountains and is perfect for happy hour and watching the sun set. There is live music on Sunday and the occasional Tuesday night.
The Walnut Brewery (1123 Walnut St., 303/447-1345, www.rockbottomrestaurantsinc.com) can be a bit loud, especially during happy hour or on weekends, but that’s part of the boisterous fun at this bar. The beers have names that reference local places like Indian Peaks Pale Ale and Devil’s Thumb Stout.
At the Hotel Boulderado, the Corner Bar (2115 13th St., 303/442-4880) is a nice place to sit inside or out on the patio for a little people-watching while enjoying a cocktail.
