There’s a reason that you have likely heard of the Broadmoor—it’s a remarkable luxury hotel that has been around for close to 100 years. The Broadmoor (1 Lake Ave., 719/577-5775 or 800/634-7711, www.broadmoor.com, $200–445) is a destination in itself, not just a place to stay for a night. Set at the base of Cheyenne Mountain, the large pink Mediterranean-style hotel opened in 1918 and was meant to capture the luxury of Asian and European designs seen by the owners in their travels.

The numbers can tell the story here: 700 rooms and suites, 18 restaurants, 3,000 acres with meticulously landscaped grounds, eight tennis courts, three golf courses, three swimming pools, and a spa, and that’s not all. On the website you can sign up for special offer alerts or find a package deal.

In downtown the Antlers Hilton Colorado Springs (4 S. Cascade Ave., 719/955-5600, www.antlers.com, $135–500) is certainly popular with business travelers, but is a convenient location for seeing the sights too. West-side rooms have view of Pikes Peak.

For accommodations with a homier feel, the Holden House (1102 W. Pikes Peak Ave., 719/471-3980, www.holdenhouse.com, $140–150) has five roomy suites available near downtown. It’s your typical bed-and-breakfast with floral prints everywhere, overstuffed chairs and sofas, and lots of antiques throughout a turn-of-the-20th-century Victorian home.
