The idea at SAME Café is simple: There are no prices, but the food is not free. Customers are expected to pay what they can, or what they feel their meal is worth, by dropping cash in a can by the door. If someone cannot afford to pay anything for their meal, they are asked to do work at the restaurant as payment.
The goal here is in the name: So All May Eat (SAME). And not eat just any food, but food made from fresh, organic ingredients. The menu changes daily based on the availability of what’s in season, but generally includes soups, salads, pizzas, and a selection of desserts.
Inside and outside seating is available at about 10 tables. The ambience is as casual and laidback as its diners, who can chat with the friendly owners when it is slow.
