History of Diving Museum

One of the coolest things inside the History of Diving Museum (82990 Overseas Hwy., 305/664-9737, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily, $12 adults, $6 children, children 4 and under free) is a huge display wall with dozens of antique diving helmets arrayed on it. While this may not sound like the most engaging sight to lay your eyes on, the “Parade of Nations” exhibit—especially when accompanied by the distinctive audio narration by museum founder Joe Bauer—is both interesting and educational in its own quirky way.

There are also exhibits dedicated to treasure hunters, the odd evolutionary path of helium diving, and a general overview of the history of underwater exploration from skin-diving to scuba.
