Trailheads: Grand Canyon Lodge or the North Kaibab Trail parking lot
More of a stroll than a hike, this easy trail allows visitors to leave their cars behind in order to get from one place to another on Bright Angel Point. The path connects the lodge and campground and leads through a forest of ponderosa pines to the North Kaibab Trailhead.
It’s the only trail on the North Rim where you can bicycle or walk your pet (on a leash). Like a small-town sidewalk, this path has a friendly, social feel.
You might see mule deer wandering nearby or catch a glimpse of a Kaibab squirrel leaping from branch to branch in the tall ponderosas. If no one’s watching, take time out to stop and sniff a tree—the ponderosa’s bark smells like butterscotch or vanilla.
