Laura’s Bakery (13 Calle and Av. Ramón Rosa, tel. 504/443-1494, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Sat.), serves up delicious freshly baked goods, including cinnamon rolls, muffins, cakes, and breads (get there early for the best selection), as well as good cappuccinos, soup, and sandwiches. A second location, on the second floor of the Mega Plaza Mall, is open 9 a.m.–9 p.m. daily. Although Laura had left when we visited, the new owner Sherry was doing a great job of keeping up quality, and was talking about changing the name.

Ki’bok Café (7 a.m.–8 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 8 a.m.–noon Sun.) is a great new spot serving coffee and desserts, as well as breakfast items (all day) and sandwiches. There is a book exchange and a comfy reading room—perfect for whiling away a rainy day. The café is between La Plancha Restaurant and the Cuquis plant, behind the Esso gas station on the street that runs from downtown to the stadium.

No Honduran city would be complete without multiple branches of Espresso Americano (6:15 a.m.–8 p.m. daily); one is located right on the park.
