Should the climes and friendly feel of Santa Rosa tempt you to stay a while, you could fill your time taking Spanish classes at the Santa Rosa de Copán Language School (tel. 504/662-1378, www.spanish-ili-copan.com). Santa Rosa would certainly be a relaxing place to spend a few weeks or months studying, and unlike in Antigua, Guatemala, you wouldn’t speak a whole lot of English in your free time.
The school costs US$240 a week for four hours of classes a day in a program of two to four weeks (or $120 per week for two hours a day), and homestays are sometimes available, for $12.50 per day.
