Katy Trail

The Katy Trail is a 225-mile bike path that crosses most of Missouri and winds through several cities and towns including Rocheport, Sedalia, Columbia, state capital Jefferson City, and St. Charles.

While you’re in Rocheport, stop at the Trailside Cafe and Bike Shop to rent a bike and head out for your own trail exploring.

Bicycling enthusiasts will want to check in with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (www.dnr.mo.gov) for updated information on the annual end-to-end trail ride, held in June.

Formerly the route of the MKT (Missouri–Kansas–Texas) rail line, the Katy Trail remains an homage to railroad history with several restored train cars and depots that can be seen along the trail.

If you’re interested in spending more time on the trail, visit www.bikekatytrail.com and order the Katy Trail Guidebook, an invaluable source of information on trail towns, camping, wineries, bicycling tips, and more.
