It celebrates the lives and contributions of Michigan women such as Sojourner Truth, a former slave and crusader for human rights; Laura Smith Haviland, an organizer of one of the state’s first Underground Railroad stations; Anne Howard Shaw, a minister and physician whose dynamic leadership resulted in the passage of the 19th Amendment; and Gilda Radner, a courageous Detroit-born actress and comedienne.
