Wildwood Hills Pathway

For hikers and cross-country skiers, the Wildwood Hills Pathway on Wildwood Road in nearby Indian River offers almost complete isolation. Three well-marked trails—ranging 4–9 miles in length—take visitors deep into the heart of a northern Michigan second-growth forest and cross high, rolling hills in the Mackinac State Forest just a few miles south of Burt Lake.
Two trailheads on Wildwood Road provide access to the pathway, leading into a dense forest of hardwoods and evergreens. Along the way, the only companion you’ll likely have is the wind through the trees, an occasional birdcall, and a curious chipmunk or two. Trail system maps are located at the trailheads and most major intersections.
