Classical Music and Dance
The Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra (218/733-7575, www.dsso.com) performs more or less year-round at the DECC.
The Duluth-based Minnesota Ballet (218/529-3742, www.minnesotaballet.org) also puts on a few performances there each year.
The Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra (218/726-8877) holds five Wednesday-evening concerts at UMD each summer.
Theater
The Duluth Playhouse (218/733-7555, www.duluthplayhouse.com), entertaining the masses since 1914, is the state’s oldest community theater group. They stage regular shows for adults and children year-round at The Depot (506 Michigan St. W.).
The small The Play Ground (11 Superior St. E., 218/733-7555, www.duluthplayground.org) mixes theater, live music, independent films, and other special events.
Cinema
The Duluth 10 (300 Harbor Dr., 218/722-1573, www.marcustheatres.com), gets all the big Hollywood movies.
The large-format OMNIMAX (350 Harbor Dr., 218/727-0022, www.decc.org/attractions/omni) is also downtown.
