Yellowstone County Museum
Trip Ideas
Also on the Rimrocks, near the airport, is the Yellowstone County Museum (1950 Terminal Cir., 406/256-6811, 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m. Sat., free). This community museum features an old steam engine from the Northern Pacific, a pioneer cabin, a sheepherder’s wagon, a roundup wagon, and homesteader and Indian artifacts. Diorama fans will be uplifted by its display of life in the early years of Yellowstone settlement, and outdoors near the picnic tables is a telescope for viewing Billings and vicinity.
