Information
There’s no Glacier National Park visitors center in East Glacier, but the information desk at the lodge is staffed by generally helpful people. The ranger station at Two Medicine Lake has more specific information on nearby hiking trails.
The post office is east of Highway 2, behind the Glacier Park Trading Company. A Laundromat and showers are two blocks south at the Y Lazy R RV Park behind the Exxon station.
Transportation
Amtrak stops at the East Glacier Park station during the summer. The westbound train comes through in the evening; eastbound service is midmorning daily. From September through May the train stops in Browning rather than East Glacier; check exact dates and times with Amtrak (800/872-7245, www.amtrak.com).
Car rentals are available at the Sears Motel (406/226-9293).
