Two Medicine boasts some of the park’s most spectacular scenery, but it’s a ways from the Going-to-the-Sun Road and is often overlooked.
A glacier gouged Lower Two Medicine Lake at the foot of purplish red Rising Wolf Mountain (elev. 9,505 feet). Backcountry chalets built by the Great Northern were the first stop on a horseback circuit popular in the preautomobile days. One such wooden chalet remains as the Two Medicine camp store.
Boat tours of Two Medicine Lake leave the dock at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and 1, 3, and 5 p.m. daily mid-June–early Sept. The 45-minute tour costs $11 for adults and $5.50 for children.
