Holland Lake (406/837-7500, www.fs.fed.us/r1/flathead, mid-May–Sept., $14) is the site of one of the prettiest, and sometimes one of the most crowded, Forest Service campgrounds in the area. It’s south of Condon and east of Highway 83 on Holland Lake Road. The lake contains cutthroat, bull, and rainbow trout, and kokanee salmon.

Holland Lake is a popular departure point for horse trips into the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area, and in addition to the regular Forest Service campground there’s a campground for horse packers a little farther down the road from the campground.

Owl Creek Packers’ Camp charges a few dollars for a corral fee. At the road’s end there are short hiking trails for the casual day hiker as well as trails leading into the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area. The hike in to Holland Falls is not difficult (three miles round-trip).
