Trip Ideas
Many of the anglers who flock to Ennis come with nonfishing spouses. Main Street shopkeepers have taken note, and Ennis is now a fun place to while away an afternoon browsing antique and home decor shops. There are also several fly-fishing shops in town, including Madison River Fishing Co. (109 Main St., 406/682-4293 or 800/227-7127) and The Tackle Shop (127 Main St., 406/682-4263). These shops can also recommend guides.
If the fishing is off, would-be anglers can head west on Highway 287 to Twin Bridges for a shopping spree at the R. L. Winston Rod Company, where the extremely well-regarded rods are handcrafted.
