New England’s premier amusement park, Six Flags New England (Rte. 159/1623 Main St., Agawam, 413/786-9300, www.sixflags.com, hours vary Apr.–Oct., $42 adults, $31 youth under 5’3”, free children under 3) has more than 100 rides and thrills, including the must-ride Bizarro roller coaster and a gargantuan water park with a “rocket-propelled” water coaster.
Be forewarned, however, that the park can get both pricey and crowded. The best strategy is to pick either the theme park or the water park, and invest in the quick pass that helps you beat the lines.
