There could be no more fitting place for a celebration of wooden boats than the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, which has seen more than its fair share between its shores. The New Hampshire Boat Museum (395 Center St./Rte. 28, Wolfeboro Falls, 603/569-4554, www.nhbm.org, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Mon.–Sat. and noon–4 p.m. Sun. late May–mid-Oct., $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 students, children under 13 free) takes visitors from the time when boats were literally powered by horses to the modern era of 225-horsepower motor boats.
