If you’re looking to pick up food, try the Village Gourmet & Cheese Shop (11 Main St., 631/283-6949) for takeout.
More serious meals can be had at
Le Chef Bistro (75 Job’s Ln., 631/283-8581), a bustling French restaurant with a lively bar to one side, dining to the other. A surprisingly reasonable prix fixe $27 dinner menu includes a half-dozen tasty appetizers (crab cakes, lobster bisque) and an equal number of equally tasty entrées (nut-encrusted flounder, grilled tuna, veal chops).
The Red Bar Brasserie (210 Hampton Rd., 631/283-0704) serves creative American fare in a stylish, white-tablecloth setting. At night, the restaurant’s bar is crowded with beautiful people.
