Wine enthusiasts might want to visit Adair Vineyards (75 Allhusen Rd., 845/255-1377, noon–5 p.m. Fri.–Sun. May–Nov.), which centers on a 200-year-old National Historic Landmark dairy barn. The tasting room is in the old hayloft.
Or, head east to Route 9W, which hugs the shores of the Hudson River. Many small wineries are located along the route between West Park and Marlboro. Most famous among them is Benmarl Winery (156 Highland Ave., Marlboro, 845/236-4265, www.benmarl.com, noon–5 p.m. Thurs.–Mon.). First planted as a vineyard in the late 16th century, it sits on a hilltop with great views of the river.
The winery produces award-winning varietals, including chardonnays and cabernets. An on-site art gallery showcases the work of owner Mark Miller, a magazine illustrator.
