The big Saturday and Sunday tianguis, spreading from the northeast corner of the plaza, is Juquila’s main regular event. It swells to a 15-day marathon blowout during the December Fiesta de la Virgen de Juquila. The celebration begins quietly in late November with early-morning masses and religious processions; builds with a street carnival, floats, and fireworks; and climaxes around December 8 with traditional and modern dances, tapering off after the December 12 Virgin of Guadalupe festival.
