Ashland is famous for having one of the most dynamic Elderhostel programs in the country. The program operates February–October, the same as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival season, at Southern Oregon University’s Cox Hall, which is both the Elderhostel office and dormitory.

The program welcomes approximately 2,400 participants to the campus community each year and is proud to create an intergenerational community on this public liberal arts campus.

Many of the classes offered deal with Shakespeare and the theater, and they usually include theater tours, classes with actors and theater professionals, plus tickets to selected plays.

The Ashland Elderhostel program also offers a few Portland-based courses each year. To find out about current courses, contact Elderhostel (1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520, 541/552-6378 or 800/257-0577, www.sou.edu/siskiyoucenter/elderhostel).
