The popular spot for breakfast and lunch is Nibbley’s Cafe (2650 Washburn Way, 541/883-2314, 6 a.m.–4 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 7 a.m.–4 p.m. Sat., 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Sun., $5–12). The oatmeal pancakes are locally renowned, and the omelets are yummy.
For Italian fine dining, try
Bel Tramonto (6139 Simmers Ave., 541/884-8259, 5–9 p.m. Tues.–Sat., $12–19). You have a choice small or large plates, with specialties like toasted gnocchi with pork confit and Gorgonzola, or choose one of the Neapolitan-style pizzas. In summer there’s a large outdoor dining area.
Mr. B’s Steakhouse (3927 S. 6th St., 541/883-8719, 5–9 p.m. Tues.–Sat., $12–28) offers excellent steak and seafood options along with an extensive wine list. The food is excellent, and the ambience is classy. What really sets the tone is the extra care taken with salads, vegetables, and sauces—this operation was once a French restaurant before retooling as a steakhouse, and the attention to side dishes really makes a difference.
An excellent spot for casual dining is the Creamery Brew Pub & Grill (1320 Main St., 541/273-5222, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. daily, $8–18), with good salads, burgers, and sandwiches; in the evening there is a large selection of dinner entrées that include flame-grilled steaks and salmon.
