Budget travelers can bunk down at Douglas Value Inn (511 SE Stephens St., 541/673-6625 or 877/368-4466, $69 and up), which is in the downtown area of Roseburg. The Roseburg Travelodge (315 W. Harvard Ave., 541/672-4836, $69 and up) is right on the Umpqua, and you’ll pay a bit more to have a room and balcony overlooking the river. The flower-bedecked Rose City Motel (1142 NE Stephens St., 541/673-8209, $69 and up) is an old-fashioned motor court motel that is very well-maintained, with full kitchens and a very friendly welcome.
These chain hotels, among many others, are convenient to the interstate: Comfort Inn (1539 Mulholland Dr., 541/957-1100 or 800/228-5160, $95 and up) and Howard Johnson Express (978 NE Stephens St., 541/673-5082, www.hojo.com, $95 and up).

Camping
Armacher County Park (541/672-4901, $15–20), is 5 miles north of town directly beneath I-5 on Exit 129. Twin Rivers Vacation Park (433 Rivers Forks Rd., 541/673-3811, $18–25), is 6 miles out of town off I-5 Exit 125, where the north and south forks of the Umpqua converge. Water, electricity, waste disposal, showers, and a coin-op laundry are available at this 85-site park.
