La Cabaña (Giráldez 652, tel. 064/22-3303, www.incasdelperu.org, 5–11 p.m. daily) is an excellent drinking and dancing spot that is popular with both locals and travelers. Local bands crank out folkloric music Thursday–Saturday from 9 p.m. onwards.
Antojitos (Puno 599, tel. 064/23-7950, 7 a.m.–1a2 a.m.), on the corner of Arequipa and Puno, serves up light food in an atmosphere of classic rock and salsa, as does Galileo (Paseo La Breña 378, 6 p.m.–midnight Mon.–Sat.).
The three best discotheques of Huancayo are Taj Mahal (Huancavelica 1056, 7 p.m.–2 a.m. Mon.–Sat.), La Noche (San Antonio 241, 9 p.m.–3 a.m. Fri.–Sat.), and El Molino (Ugarte 503, 7 p.m.–2 a.m. Thurs.–Sat.). Cover charges hover around US$3, including a drink, and things get going around 11 p.m.
There is a good karaoke spot on Plaza de Constitución called Torre Torre (Giraldez 137, 7 p.m.–2 a.m. Mon.–Sat.).
