In the Vallecito neighborhood is Queen’s Villa (Luna Pizarro 512, Vallecito, tel. 054/28-3060, www.queensvillahotel.com, US$50 s, US$61 d with breakfast), with rooms and a handful of bungalows surrounded by pleasant gardens, sitting tables, palm trees, and a nice pool.
The rooms vary in quality and have parquet, tile, or carpeted floors. The tranquil setting and amenities, such as inexpensive laundry, cable TV, WiFi, and kitchenettes in some bungalows, make the place worth your money.
Casa Andina Classic–Arequipa Jerusalén (Jerusalén 603, tel. 054/24-4481, www.casa-andina.com, US$76 s or d, US$131 suite with buffet breakfast) is a completely remodeled modern hotel that stands out for the bright red-and-orange blocks designing its facade. Its comfortable 94 rooms have security boxes, cable TV, WiFi, and comfy beds, and many have tubs.
On the other side of Río Chili is Hotel La Maison D’Elise (Bolognesi 104, tel. 054/25-6185, www.hotelmaisondelise.com, US$78 s, US$100 d, including breakfast). The modern, blocky exterior contrasts with the architecture of the rooms, which attempts to imitate the local colonial construction. All 43 rooms have cable TV, phones, WiFi, large bathrooms, and easy access to a grassy lawn with a small pool and good views of Misti. Amenities include a 24-hour free medical service, laundry, and a parking lot.
