Pizza
Trip Ideas
The best pizza in town is at Gianni’s (San Francisco 304, 6 p.m.–1 a.m. Mon.–Sat., US$5–6), an Italian-owned restaurant with the freshest of ingredients (the mushrooms aren’t canned here, always the true test). Dinners are served with generous glasses of Chilean or Argentine wine or liters of sangria.
A local favorite is Marengo (Santa Catalina 221, tel. 054/28-4883, 8 a.m.–midnight daily, US$5–10). This pizzeria has been in town for 13 years and has locations in Cusco and Cajamarca.
The most laid-back of all the pizzerias is the cavelike Los Leños (Jerusalén 407, tel. 054/28-9197, 3–11 p.m. daily, US$4–6), serving great wood-fired pizzas for over a decade. The dim lighting and graffiti on the sillar walls give it a pub atmosphere.
