Accommodations and Food
Hospedaje Milan (Juan José 513, US$4 s, US$6 d) has queen-size foam beds and plain, clean rooms with shared bathrooms. The owner is the hospitable, and extremely courteous, Edgardo Méndez.
On the main square is a red colonial home (Plaza Grau, US$12 s, US$22 d) that has been well restored by owner Oscar Frisancho and converted into a charming two-star hostel. The rooms have high ceilings, brick floors, and loads of colonial charm.
The best restaurant is Las Delicias, on the Plaza de Armas and operated by the charming Señora Delia. Lunch or dinner menu is US$1.
The other good restaurant in the plaza, El Pollón, serves spit-roasted chicken and other food and is also open for breakfast.
