Smoking
Trip Ideas
Non-smokers no longer have to leave the bar reeking of smoke. In 2007, a smoking ban went into effect in all restaurants and bars in Philadelphia. There is the occasional dive bar, remote neighborhood bar, or private club where smoking is still allowed, but they are the exception. It is still acceptable for smokers to light up at most al fresco bars, restaurants, and coffee shops, as well as in subway stations and in parks. Smoking is not as taboo here as in many West Coast cities, but the recent ban has certainly changed the bar culture—for the better, according to most.
