Senior Travelers
Trip Ideas
Philadelphia is a hospitable destination for older travelers, although some may choose to avoid the hottest summer months and the coldest winter months. Senior citizens with proof of age (65 and older) ride buses and subways for free all the time and regional rail for free during off-peak hours (before 6 a.m., from 9 a.m.–3 p.m., and after 6 p.m.). Discounts are available at many attractions and AARP discounts are available at many hotels. The Independence Visitor Center (6th and Market Sts., 215/965-7676, www.independencevisitorcenter.com) offers additional resources and information for seniors.
