Starlight Ballroom
Trip Ideas
460 N. 9th St., 215/769-1530,
A frequent host to R5 Productions’ shows, the Starlight Ballroom has expanded beyond its dance-club roots to become a formidable live music venue.
The dancehall layout makes for a perfect forum for smaller acts with very loyal followings like TV on the Radio, Arctic Monkeys, and the dearly departed Sleater-Kinney. There are tables, bars, and concessions available for patrons occasionally coming off the dance floor for air.
As more bands and audiences discover it, the Ballroom could very well eclipse the neighboring Electric Factory as the area’s premiere concert spot.
