Spectator Sports

You’ll find most of the Valley’s sports action in Phoenix, but every March the Boys of Spring descend upon Scottsdale for the Cactus League spring training series.

Baseball fans can catch the San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale Stadium (7408 E. Osborn Rd., 480/312-2586, www.scottsdaleaz.gov/stadium), battling one of 13 other MLB teams on the field, including the Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Dodgers, and hometown Arizona Diamondbacks.

You can also grab a hot dog and a game at the downtown stadium during the Arizona Fall League in October.

The other big spectator event in Scottsdale is the FBR Open, the single largest event on the PGA Tour. Each year in late January or early February, pro golfers come to play the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course and their fans come to watch and enjoy the tournament’s party scene. This is not your typical golf tournament.
