Couples will find plenty of romantic restaurants in which to enjoy a glass of wine, though the big resorts expertly set the mood with cozy fireplaces and leafy patios. Make the 15-minute drive to Enchantment Resort (525 Boynton Canyon Rd., 928/282-2900), which is nestled in the horseshoe-shaped Boynton Canyon. The red-rock walls glow at sunset and provide a memorable backdrop for the resort’s signature prickly pear margaritas.

The creekside wine bar at L’Auberge de Sedona Resort (301 L’Auberge Ln., 928/282-1661) in Uptown Sedona creates an intimate, alfresco spot to share a bottle of wine.

Join the locals at Full Moon Saloon (7000 Hwy. 179, 928/284-1872, 11 a.m.–2 a.m. daily) at Tequa Marketplace in the Village of Oak Creek. What Full Moon lacks in rustic character, the relatively new watering hole makes up for with a friendly crowd and casual vibe that extends from the bar to the billiards tables. Don’t be surprised to see the small dance floor fill up when the occasional live band is playing.

You don’t have to look far to find a decent beer in Red Rock Country. Oak Creek Brewery and Grill (2050 Yavapai Rd., 928/203-9441, 4–11 p.m. Mon.–Thurs., noon–1 a.m. Fri.–Sun.) in West Sedona serves up a slew of award-winning handcrafted beers, like its popular amber ale, pilsner-style gold lager, and refreshing hefeweizen. Check out the cabinet where members stow their personal mugs before heading out to the patio to listen to live music, which ranges from rockabilly and bluegrass to “off-kilter jazz fusion.”

The Olde Sedona Bar & Grille (1405 W. Hwy. 89A, 928/282-5670, 11 a.m.–2 a.m. daily) is a West Sedona mainstay. The self-described family restaurant may not have the best food in town, but its live music and funky Western atmosphere can’t be beat. Grab a local brew at sunset and head to the second-story patio for a view of the red rocks. You could easily spend the rest of the night drinking, shooting pool, dancing, and listening to a blues band with new friends.

PJ’s Village Pub & Sports Lounge (40 W. Cortez Dr., 928/284-2250, 10 a.m.–2 a.m. daily) is a laid-back watering hole in the Village of Oak Creek that packs in locals with live music on Saturday nights. As at any good neighborhood bar, you’ll find regulars playing darts and video games, as well as three pool tables that are free on Sunday evenings.

You never know what you’ll find at the spirited Relics Restaurant & Nightclub at Rainbow’s End (3235 W. Hwy. 89A, 928/282-1593, 4 p.m.–2 a.m. daily), a former homestead, general store, and stagecoach stop. Thankfully, the dancehall—which retains much of its rustic ambience and northern Arizona’s largest wooden dance floor—is still attracting Sedonans with weekly events, including Johnny Cash tributes, Latino nights, and DJ dance parties that range from Motown to country. If the barroom looks a little familiar, you may have seen it in the 1965 Western The Rounders, starring Henry Fonda and Glenn Ford.

The Rooftop Cantina (321 N. Hwy. 89A, 928/282-4179, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. daily) at Oaxaca Restaurant serves tasty margaritas and a fine menu of 50 tequilas. Best of all, the views of Snoopy Rock are as much fun as the atmosphere at this Uptown Mexican restaurant.

If you want to catch a big game on TV, Stakes and Sticks Sports Bar and Celebrity Grill (160 Portal Ln., 928/204-7849, 8 a.m.–3 p.m. 5–9 p.m. Mon.–Thurs., 11 a.m.–midnight Fri.–Sat., 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Sun.) at the elegant Los Abrigados Resort and Spa has two dozen screens broadcasting the wide world of sports. True to its promise of “pilsner, pool, and ponies,” here you can wager on horse races at the automated betting stations inside the billiards room or enjoy a beer on the more subdued patio.
