Aibonito is known as the City of Flowers because every year it bursts into a riot of color and floral scents for the Festival de las Flores (Carr. 722, km 6.7, 787/735-4070, $3 adults, $2 children), held from the last weekend of June through the first weekend of July. On 25 acres of land, the festival grounds are filled with horticulture and landscaping exhibitions and more than 50 vendors selling flowers and plants, as well as pottery and garden accessories. There’s also live music, and vendors sell food and crafts.
Feria Nacional de Artesanías (23 Calle Muñoz Rivera, Barranquitas, 787/857-6293) held in mid-July features more than 200 artisans from all over the island who flock here to sell local arts and crafts, including wood carvings, musical instruments, ceramics, hammocks, and more.
