At Canopy Tour Los Veranos (tel. 322/223-6060, www.canopytours-vallarta.com, $79) you’ll enjoy a bird’s-eye view and plenty of thrills as you zip from tree to tree through the jungle on cables. Reach it by car or bus, via Highway 200 south, three miles (5 km) past Boca de Tomatlán. At Las Juntas y Los Veranos, turn right onto the dirt side road. Continue about a mile to Canopy Tour Los Veranos at the end of the road.

Alternatively, Vallarta Adventures (tel. 322/297-1212, U.S. tel. 888/303-2653, www.vallarta-adventures.com, adults $79) offers perhaps the best of all canopy tours, at its camp nestled in the vine-hung tropical forest foothills along the road to San Sebastián. The actual canopy tour takes you through about ten sturdy forest perches, via 100- or 200-yard cable rides from perch to perch in a total of about an hour and a half.
