Whether on the beach or not, all Barra hotels (except the world-class Hotel Grand Bay) fall in the budget or moderate categories. Note: During fall storm season Barra de Navidad waves sometimes hit the sand with a boom. If you’re a light sleeper, best come prepared with earplugs. Otherwise, choose one of Barra’s many good off-beach hotels.
In contrast to Barra de Navidad, San Patricio Melaque has many beachfront hotels. Although the majority of them, especially in the old San Patricio town center, are mediocre at best, visitors enjoy a number of well-managed comfortable, even deluxe, exceptions, especially in the quiet south-side neighborhood. All of those covered enjoy beachfront locations, although few, except those noted, accept credit cards.
