You can do this four-miles between Barra and Melaque either way, but starting from Barra early in the morning, the sun will be behind you and the sky and ocean will be at their bluest and best. Take insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hat. At either end, enjoy lunch at one of the seaside restaurants. At the Melaque end you can continue walking north to the cove on the far side of town. The trail, now a concrete andador beneath the cliff, leads to spectacular wave-tossed tide pools and rugged sea rocks at the tip of the bay. At the Barra end, you can hire a launch to Colimilla for lunch or dinner. End your day leisurely by taxiing or busing back from the bus station at either end.
