This Los Alamos National Labs (LANL)-sponsored exhibit (Central Ave. at 15th St., 505/667-4444, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Tues.–Sat., 1–5 p.m. Sun. and Mon., free) on the miracles of atomic energy has the feel of a very-high-grade science fair, with plenty of buttons to push and gadgets to play with.
There’s also an air of a convention sales booth—the museum’s mission is definitely to sell the public on LANL’s work and nuclear technology in general, though a public forum corner gives space to opposing views.
More interesting are the relics of the early nuclear age: the Fat Man and Little Boy shell casings, gadgetry from the Nevada Test Site, and the like.
