Birders of course will want to start a hike here, but even general visitors will also be intrigued by the house of artist Randall Davey (1800 Upper Canyon Rd., 505/983-4609, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. daily) and two very pretty trails that lead into the forest and canyons behind ($2). The beautifully painted back rooms of the house are open for a guided tour at 2 p.m. every Friday ($5), and a free guided bird walk departs from the parking lot at 8:30 a.m. every Saturday.
