Get the Santa Fe look at Maya (108 Galisteo St., 505/989-7590, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Sun.) and Lucille’s (223 Galisteo St., 505/983-6331, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Sun.), two stores that deal in flowing cotton skirts, bohemian tunics, and chunky jewelry. Maya also has lots of cute shoes and poppier items, while Lucille’s always has good stuff on the sale rack.

On Canyon Road, artist Richard Campiglio of Cruz Jewelry Studio (618 Canyon Rd., 505/986-0644, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily) makes heavy, distinctive jewelry in silver and semiprecious stones—Goth cross pendants as well as drop earrings that look like sea urchins. The studio also has a small gallery space and a café in the back.

Back near the plaza, don’t miss Glorianna’s (55 W. Marcy St., 505/982-0353, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Mon., Tues., and Thurs.–Sat.), a treasure trove of beads, packed to bursting with veritable eggs of raw turquoise, trays of glittering Czech glass, and ropes of African trade beads, as well as boxes full of smaller treasure, such as delicate iridescent seed beads and antique sequins. (It’s often closed for lunch 1–2 p.m., though.)

And you can pick up a pair of boots fit for the Opry at Back at the Ranch (209 E. Marcy St., 505/989-8110, 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Mon.–Sat., noon–5 p.m. Sun.), stocked floor-to-ceiling with ostrich-skin ropers and loads of belt buckles.
