Occupying a distinctive angular building near the entrance to Samcheong-dong, the Kukje Gallery has long served as a bridge between Korea and the broader contemporary art world.
It’s introduced Seoul to the work of prominent cutting-edge artists such as Damien Hirst, Anish Kapoor, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and is also well known for grooming promising local artists who have gone on to find favor internationally, helped by its strong connections to major art fairs and museums worldwide.
Anyone serious about familiarizing themselves with or even investing in contemporary Korean art should make this gallery one of their first stops.
