Roaring Fork Auto Nature Trail

This six-mile paved road departs from Gatlinburg. To find it, turn left at traffic light No. 8 in Gatlinburg and follow the signs to the park. As you enter the park, roll down your windows to feel the cooler and fresher air of the forest.
Sights along the way include the Noah “Bud” Ogle Place, where you can get out and walk a short nature trail through the forest. Here you’ll see parts of the homestead, including a tubmill and wooden flume.
Just past the Ogle Place, the road becomes one-way and winds for six miles along Roaring Fork, a fast-moving mountain stream. Along the way you will pass more historic structures and the trailhead for Grotto Falls, a popular and relatively easy hike.
At the end of the drive is the waterfall Place of a Thousand Drips, which runs during wet weather.
