The City of Memphis operates a dozen outdoor pools that are open from June to August, and several indoor pools open year-round. Public outdoor pools are open Monday–Saturday noon–6 p.m., and admission is free. The outdoor pools include L. E. Brown Pool (617 S. Orleans, 901/527-3620) in southeastern Memphis; Lester Pool (317 Tillman Rd., 901/323-2261) in eastern Memphis; Riverview Pool (182 Joubert Rd., 901/948-7609) at Kansas Park in south Memphis; and Willow Pool (4777 Willow Rd., 901/763-2917).
Two indoor pools are open to the general public: the Bickford Aquatic Center (235 Henry Ave., 901/578-3732, Mon.–Fri. 8 a.m.–6 p.m.) and Hickory Hill Aquatic Center (3910 Ridgeway Rd., 901/566-9685, Mon.–Fri. 6 a.m.–9 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.–2 p.m.). Admission to either pool is $5 per day or $8 for a weekly pass, although there are special free swim periods each day. The pools are closed on Sunday.
