A few doors down from Cooter’s Place, you will find Willie Nelson and Friends Museum (2613 McGavock Pike, 615/885-1515, summer daily 9 a.m.–8 p.m., winter daily 9 a.m.–7 p.m., $10), which showcases a number of things that once belonged to Willie Nelson, including his golf bag, a replica of his tour bus, and the guitar he played during his first performance on the Grand Ole Opry. Many of the Willie Nelson items were purchased by museum operators Jeannie and Frank Oakley at an IRS auction.
Nearby, the Music Valley Wax Museum of the Stars (2515 McGavock Pike, 615/884-7876, daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m., $12), which advertises itself thus: “As close as you can get to Nashville’s biggest stars without being slapped with a restraining order.” Enough said.
