Have you ever wanted to ride a horse on the beach, with the waves gently crashing at your trusty steed’s feet as the ocean breeze whips through your hair? Then gallop over to Mustang Riding Stable (16562 South Padre Island Dr., 361/749-5055, www.mustangridingstable.com, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily), located just north of Padre Island National Seashore.
Horses are available for first-timers, children, and experienced riders, and the stable owners also offer lessons, hay rides, and beach parties. You’re welcome to walk, trot, or ride your horse into the surf.
