The premier performance venue in the Virgin Islands is the Reichhold Center for the Arts (2 Brewer’s Bay, 340/693-1559, www.reichholdcenter.com), an open-air amphitheater affiliated with the University of the Virgin Islands. The 2,000-seat center was built in the late 1970s and has hosted performers as varied as the Moscow Ballet and Ray Charles. The center’s annual arts series runs from October to May and features performances by top jazz, Latin, and reggae performers. Other shows include dance, classical, and local quelbe music. Tickets can be bought online in advance.

Many of the most exciting arts events on St. Thomas are organized by The Forum (340/514-0554, www.theforum.vi), a nonprofit organization that produces concerts, dance recitals, academic lectures, and film festivals. Check out the season schedule for a rundown on some of the best events on the island. Many of the Forum’s presentations take place at the Reichhold Center for the Arts at UVI or Prior-Jollek Hall at Antilles School, located in Frenchman’s Bay.
