For a casual bite on the run, Burrito Bay Deli (American Yacht Harbor, 340/775-2944, 6 a.m.–8 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 6 a.m.–6 p.m. Sun., $6–12) is the best choice in Red Hook. Try the hearty huevos rancheros for breakfast. For lunch and dinner choose from the Tex-Mex menu, order from the daily specials, or just grab a sandwich. Dine in and watch the boat traffic in and out of Red Hook.
In the parking lot of Red Hook Plaza, Duffy’s Love Shack (340/779-2495, 11 a.m.–midnight, $12–25) is a landmark. Besides froufrou drinks, it serves standard American fare with a Caribbean twist, like mahimahi sandwiches, burgers, steak, or chicken salad.
Located at fun-loving Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, Iggies (Bolongo Bay, 340/693-2600, 11:30 a.m.–11 p.m., $10–25) is a beachfront eatery that knows how to have a good time. Iggies has live music several nights of the week and special events like karaoke night, all-you-can-eat barbecue (Sundays), and the Carnival show every Wednesday. The menu does not stray far from old standbys: burgers, barbecue, and seafood take center stage. This is a good choice for a casual, fun meal on the beach.
