Camping
Purple Point Campground is just a third of a mile from the boat landing in Stehekin. Campers can also ride the shuttle bus from Stehekin to Harlequin, Bullion, High Bridge, Tumwater, Dolly Varden, Shady, Bridge Creek, Park Creek, and Flat Creek campgrounds along the Stehekin River. Weaver Point Campground is a very popular boat-access campground at the north end of the lake across from Stehekin.
The old Weaver homestead here was the site where The Courage of Lassie was filmed in 1944, starring none other than Elizabeth Taylor (and Lassie, of course).
All of these campgrounds are free; obtain a camping permit at Golden West Lodge Information Center. All boat-access campgrounds on Lake Chelan do not require a camping permit but do require a dock site pass ($5 per day or $40 for a season pass).
